Make More Noise 002

The second installment of MAKE MORE NOISE with Sachi Subterranean on KXSC . Feeling tinged blue, put together a playlist with soulful lady singers in honor of Etta James life and recent passing. Dig a range of noises from indie lo-fi from the new Cloud Nothings album, Attack On Memory , to the 3Ms of jazz: Miles, Monk and Mingus. Enjoy mightily, dear listeners! And remember, tune in Tuesdays 12 to 2pm PST to hear Sachi Subterranean live. Great Sand Dunes (Pt. 2)

Image
The second set of Holga 120 TLR photos taken at Great Sand Dunes National Park this past December. These 'scapes remain imprinted on my folds of my brain. They've made such an impression upon me that I still think of them constantly. If these photos struck something deep inside you, please peruse Great Sand Dunes Pt. 1 , or generally browse the Photography section of this fine interweb publication.

Great Sand Dunes (Pt. 1)

Image
Went to Great Sand Dunes National Park over the break to see the highest sand dunes in North America, over 700 feet high. I've traveled far and wide across this great continent, but these dunes defied comparison to anything I've ever seen before. Surreal inner and outer journeys were embarked upon, and my humble Holga 120 TRL tried to distill some essence of the trip. Snow on sand for miles with westward peaks standing sentinel guard. I think the Holy Mountain maybe found by the pure of heart in these parts.

Four Corners

Image
Took a trip to the four corners area last month, the a less traveled terrain of mesas and ponies and canyons where Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah meet. Went to Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado, and Canyon De Chelly National Monument in the Navajo Nation. Since it was the off season, tourists were sparse, the wind was biting, and icy banks of snow transformed the vistas more frequently captured in the heatwaves of summer. Full series of photography from both Mesa Verde and Canyon De Chelly will be posted sometime next month.

More Maps Than Books

Image
Three photos from various trips along the Pacific Coast Highway, and a portrait of my best friend, Cricket, taken at Thumb Butte in Arizona. All were taken with my Holga 120 TRL, scanned, and touched up digitally. However, the double exposures, light leaks, and grain are all analog original. If your enjoying these dreamy wistful scapes, stay tuned for more otherworlds captured on film, or perhaps kill some time perusing the Photography section of this fine interwebz publication.

Summertime

Image
Photos taken on various summertime adventures to Delaware beaches, lakes in Maine, and Nova Scotia. I used my trusty Holga 120 TLR and Fujicolor Pro, ISO 400 film. Just got 4 rolls developed, color and B&W, so keep an eye out for updates, if you like what you see. For the stories behind these photos, read Back On The Road (Pt. 8) .
