Mesa Verde

Continuing the photo series from my Four Corners road trip this past winter, here's a set from Mesa Verde National Park in southeast Colorado. Cliff dwellings and mesas blanketed in snow made for tricky lighting, but beautiful photos.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument

Image
Some of my favorite, but lesser known, Ansel Adams photographs were taken at what is now Canyon de Chelly National Monument in the Najavo Nation. The way the light played across the sweeping vistas of winding canyons sparked my imagination of cowboy lands. Though, my absolute favorite is the portrait of Georgia O'Keeffe and Orville Cox. In search of the location of my all time favorite photograph, I made sure to stop by Canyon de Chelly on my Four Corners roadtrip this past winter break. Maybe the light in that part of the world is magical all the time, or maybe I just lucked out. Here are just a few of the fantastic photographs I got to capture of the canyon covered in snow.

Prescott National Forest

Image
One of my best friends, Cricket, lives in Arizona and works for forest service in Prescott National Forest . Over winter break I set off on yet another roadtrip, and Prescott was the first stop. Cricket took us for a beautiful hike, we were some of the few to brave the snow. As we neared the summit of Thumb Butte, the storm clouds were clearing and the sun was just about to set behind the mountains. The lighting was unreal, and I had to take some photos.
